Layer packages from Image Service

Is there a way to create a layer or map package containing the data from an image service for a specific AOI? It looks like I can create a layer package for the whole image service but I want to force the package to the extent of the window. I would like the user to zoom to a location, select the services they want to create a package from, and then create the package for use in the field.
