Trying to fix an ArcGIS mouse/screen disconnect: Dragging a window rightwards works until I reach the rightmost ~third of the screen, then the window jumps back to the left and upwards.
If I point the mouse to a specific location and click "get info", the green dot comes up at a different location several inches away on the screen (250,918.815 5,581.284 meters). Pointing at the same spot again and right-clicking "Information", the dot goes to 249,099.626 7,640.473 meters. It's repeating the same mistake, moving to slightly different places.
On the screen, the green dot is offset by an inch to the right or to the left, up or down, often between the point I right-clicked on and the location of the window pop-up. (e.g., I right-click, the pop-up menu isn't at the place where I clicked--it's offset an inch or so. When I then click "Identify", the green dot shows up about halfway between the original right-click location and the position of the pop-up window.)
Here's what I've tried so far:
Installed trial version 10.2
Updated my BIOS to the latest version
Changed monitors
Changed mice
Tried using only one monitor instead of an extended screen.
Checked for driver updates for monitors and video driver (found none)
Updated the registry as per ArcGIS article 29236: old WindowPos value 0,36,444,20; entered 58,332,1118,560
Found a post by vsfoote in response to " Is it possible to install ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 on windows 8?, Started by Issaija?, 11-26-2012 06:56 PM", recommending to "....from the Run box, enter AppWiz.cpl -> "Turn Windows Features on or off" --> check the ".NET Framework 3.5 sp1 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" box...All PRIOR to starting an ArcGIS Desktop 10.0
installation....". So I did this, then un-installed and re-installed ArcGIS 10.2 trial version.
Still doesn't work. Dragging a window rightwards works until I reach the rightmost ~third of the screen, then the window jumps somewhere else.
"Identify now jumps the green dot to a point below and to the right of the place I clicked.
My system:
ASUS motherboard P8B75-M, latest BIOS (version 1505)
Intel Core i5-3570K
3.4 Ghz clock speed
16 GB RAM DDR3 at 1333 MHz
Two monitors with extended screen configuration.
Windows 8.
When I was using the software on a Windows 7 machine, I did not have this problem. I have looked at every post with the phrase "Windows 8" in the whole forum, and found nothing other than the above items to try.
Has anyone experienced a problem similar to this?
Thanks
Bonnie
