Field Data Type different in Arc Map vs ArcCatalog?

I have a field called "FacilityID" in my "ssGravityMains" layer which has a text Data Type when I view it in ArcCatalog. However, when I view the properties in ArcMap it shows up as a string data type: Attachment 32654

I noticed the same thing with a few other fields as well. Why would this be happening? Should it mean something to me?
