Display selection of versioned data very slow

Hi,

I have a rather large feature class (almost 200.000 records) in a versioned dataset. When I make a selection in ArcMap of around 150 features, it takes around 5 minutes to display. When I unregister the dataset as versioned, the selection takes just a few seconds to display.
The features do not have large amounts of vertices and have just around 10 attribute fields.

Any clues? I'm still using 9.3.1.

I am nog using SDO_geometry, and the article does not mention versioning.
