Calculate the difference between rows in a single field - Can Field Calculator do it?

I have [FIELD_A] full of values and I'd like to add [FIELD_B] and calculate in the difference between rows of [FIELD_A]. So the difference between [FID] 1 and 2 of [FIELD_A] would populate [FID] 1 of [FIELD_B] and so on.
