Okay, here is what I want to do...
I have two poly layers. I have my BASE layer that I want to keep and is also the one I want the changes made to. It is completely covered in polygons. My second poly layer is a buffer. I would like to cut into my Base layer with my buffer layer, while keeping my Base layer. I want to integrate the two, so essentially my buffer layer (or at least it's poly boundaries) would become a new shape in an existing polygon within my Base layer.
I'm on 10.1 now and I swear I've done this in 9.3, but I can't remember how I did it exactly or maybe I just can't find the right tools? I know I could just trace the boundary with my edit cut tool, but there is way too many polygons for that.
Please help!
