Problem with my relationship class

Hi All,

So, I have a 1 to many relationship with a line feature class and a related table. I created a relationship within the gdb, relating the line feature to the "cables_data" table.

When I select a line feature, open the attribute table and click on the "Related Tables" icon, its all fine and dandy, I can see which records relate to that particular line.

The trouble starts when I select a different record. My feature class attribute reflects the change in selection but the related table does not, it still shows me the records that related to the last selection I made. Do I have to close/open the attribute every time I want to select a new feature? That doesn't make sense to me. Why doesn't the related table reflect the change in selection?
