I have an, to me, unlogical issue. I have this shape-file to which I have joined two tables. When I add a new field this field is not zeroed but filled with numbers from other fields that are turned off. First it got filled with objectID-numbers, but when I turned that field on again, numbers from another "off-turned" field was included the new field. And I can't recalculate the new field, nothing happens. Another strange thing that happens which makes me mistrust ArcGIS, is that when I add a new field (which aren't zeroed) other on-turned fields gets affected; some fields numbers increase while others decrease.
Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? I use ArcGIS 10.1.
