I am using ArcMap 10.1 and using HEC GeoRAS 10.1 extension. I have successfully used a menu item for cross sections to populate elevations using a DEM in ArcGrid format.

When I try to use this similar process for a bridge and inlinestructure layer, I get this error... -2147220990, The index passed was not within the valid range.

Thus I cannot finish my task. This process is suppose to create a new feature class and populate an attribute table, but this does not happen.

ArcScene, raster load delay

I am trying to load an ~ 1 GB raster of a county in Oklahoma that I downloaded from USGS data gateway (.sid). It is version 10.1 of ArcScence and I am using a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop. The best I can get after 20 minutes of waiting is ~40 % completion of the raster loaded and then Arc seems to give up. I tried looking up this situation and it seems like 2 GB is the limit. I changed View>View Settings to 2D, I thought maybe 3D was causing the trouble, but it's still not loading. Any help on getting the raster to load would be appreciated.

Graduated colors graph fails

Hi,

In my shapefile, there are 8700 or more rows for each polygon. After I joined with another table imported, I tried to use the feature from the joined table to draw a graduated color map. But when I did this, it takes a long time and the classification of that feature always failed with 0. I thought it was because the joined feature from another table has too many rows. I even tried to add a new feature in the shapefile and copy the value from the table to the shapefile with "Field Calculator" option, but they are failed with no change. Would you please tell me how can I deal with this graduated color map with big number of data? Thank you!

Selecting lines based on overlap counts

Hello all. I've run into a situation that I need some help on. I have a dataset with 100,000 lines and need to find the length of lines where there are 4 or more lines overlapping each other.

I ran a topology with the Must Not Overlap rule in order to find the lines that do overlap. I then exported the topology errors into its own feature class. Now, however, I'm at a loss as to how to select only the lines with 4 or more overlapping each other spatially. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!

Licence Expiry & Extension - ArcGIS for Desktop

I am a student using a GIS Tutorial Workbook, which included an 180-day licence for ArcGIS for Desktop. Unfortunately the licence has expired. Does anyone know how I can obtain an extension on this licence or a new licence, which is free to enable me to continue my studies. Thanks

Can not connect to license manager ArcGIS 10.2

Hello- I'm installing a new ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop software onto a new, out of the box, Windows 8 machine. I have received the following error- Could not connect an ArcGIS license manager running a host net "Not Set".....I was never asked to set anything during the install and am not finding a license manager file that gives me any options. Do I need to unistall and try again?

Link to Access DB from Arc via PIN

I have an access database that has all the PINs we have in our county with all the old deed references. This file is maintained daily and any time a new PIN is created a new line is added to the database. We have a tax database that only keeps the current deed reference. I would like to be able to identify a parcel from our tax layer and have a link that would take me to the access database and to the line with the PIN that I have identify. Has anyone done anything like this?

ArcGIS Online Single Sign-on (SSO) from ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.2 ?

Hi,

I have a customer who configured Enterprise log-in (SSO) for their ArcGIS Online for Organisation account using SAML. This works fine in browser environment and sign-in page provides option to authenticate using SSO or using explicit username/password.

Now customer wants the same capability in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.2 when connecting to ArcGIS Online for Organisation. I cannot see any option to do so. Clicking "My Hosted Services" or Sign-in always asks for username and password. I could not find anything in ArcMap options either. Is it possible to provide ArcGIS Online SSO from ArcMap at all?

Legend Needs to Be Split

I have 1 item in a legend that needs to be in two different columns because it is to long and doesn't fit on a 8.5x11, The item is generated based on symbology so I cant use descriptions to break it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How to create a simple map with one-to-many relations?

Dear All,
I hope I have a simple problem, with which you can help me out.

I am trying to make a map of firms of certain branch of industry and there is a situation that one polygon (e.g. municipality) has connections to more than one element (firm). So I can not make a single join, because it can handle only one-to-one relations.
I have a polygon layer of the municipalities of the region and a xls table, where each row is a separate firm to join to a certain polygon.

There is a long and complicated way, as to create as many tables as many elements I have to join to a certain polygon, and make "multiple" single joins, but I hope there will be a simplier and smoother solution.

layers must not overlap

Good Day,

I use arcmap for desktop adv version 10.2.2. I am building a terrain for a simulation system. For this system its better that area's
(polygons) do not overlap. For now I use the ERASE tool. I have 26 area layers. In the Table of contents the layers are in the correctorder. Is the a way to remove/erase features that are below a layer in one tool.

Adjust transparency seen during editing

It's been a couple years since I did much feature creation and I've had to upgrade from 10.0 to 10.2 so my settings are all gone. I can't remember how I got my setup the way I liked.

1. How can I adjust the level of transparency I see while I'm editing? When I change the layer transparency this seem to only affect the finished sketch, but does not adjust the level of transparency seen while sketching. I seem to remember adjusting this before.

2. What is the hot key to switch to the trace tool?

3. What is the hot key to switch back to the straight segment tool?

I used to do a lot of tracing other features and I don't remember having to click on the feature construction toolbar every time. I know I used only my left hand, so they're somewhere left of the "b" key. I know I had middle finger on F2 and thumb on "c" for pan and finish sketch, and I had index on the trace-segment switch key.

Wrapping causing the map to appear incorrectly?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. So please bear with me. I have this problem with displaying the map. Please check this js fiddle:

If you change <span> tag in the code to <div> tag, suddenly the map doesn't appear full screen anymore. There is a height:400px added to code. However, I would love this to be full screen without or without <div> tag wrapping around the map div. Could this be done? I am using masterpage so I am relying on a lot of div tag.

Centering numbers in a highway shield

I must be missing something obvious. When I'm using annotation or labels or regular text in arcmap I often use highway/interstate shields. The numbers inside the shield tend to rarely be centered. Sometimes they are close enough, but it would be nice to figure out how to consistently get them centered and looking good. Any advice?

Arcmap map changing color when exported as service

Hi,

I have a sea floor ages map as an img file as shown below

But when I publish that map as a service, the colors change as shown below

Does any one have any idea what is going wrong here? Is it some sort of image format issue ?

“Find and Replace” error: “an expected field was not found or couldn’t be retrieve properly”

I wanted to replace the “sa” value” contained in the “last_edited_user” field but I got the error below (“an expected field was not found or couldn’t be retrieve properly”)

‘Toolboxes’ disappeared in ArcCatalog

Hi,
One of my GIS servers has just been restored after a corrupted hard disk. It runs ArcEditor 9.3.1 SP2 but in ArcCatalog the section ‘Toolboxes’ just isn’t there. I’ve tried a repair and had no luck.
I have .tbx’s located in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\ESRI\ArcToolbox\My Toolboxes but can’t access them.
I can open the Toolbox window no problem and all the usual ArcGIS Tools are in there.

Hope you can help?

Locate fewer features with larger tolerance (Linear Referencing)

Hi,

Background
I am using the locate features along routes tool, intersecting a line with M values with another line. Both lines have exactly the same geometry as one was created from the other, but are segmented differently. The line without M values is formed by 70 segments while the other line is formed by one segment. ArcGIS 10.1

Issue
When I use an XY tolerance of 20m as an input for the tool I locate 64 features. When I re-run the tool and use an XY tolerance of 2m I locate 70 features along the exact same route (70 is the expected answer). Does anyone have any idea why I locate fewer line segments when I use a larger tolerance?

value in the attribute table

I would like to remove all <Null> values in the feature and table classes in the file geodatabase.
Replace function does not seem to work.
Using field calculator would be the last choice.
Please let me know if there are better ways.
