I'm very new to this forum, so I apologize for any non sequiturs.
I have collected points and lines with a Trimble GeoHX. I used Pathfinder to differentially correct the file, and then exported to a shapefile. The shapefiles in ArcGIS10.1 do not play nice with any TIFF files brought in from USGS (eg imagery) - they refuse to overlay, no matter how many times I reproject the features. If I reproject the polyline, I no longer have a series of points, connected by a straight line at various angles - it is a series of horizontal and vertical lines. I even created an unprojected file and projected it in ArcGIS to match my TIFF's projection. No dice.
Beyond that, I suspect that something may be wrong, because creating a 2m buffer around the polyline (trail) fills the entire workspace with buffer. The screen has a polyline one moment, then next, it is entirely blue.
I highly suspect that I improperly exported the file from Pathfinder, but the process has been done three times now, to no avail. What am I missing?
