I warped or rectified a map using WorldMap Warp (see http://warp.worldmap.harvard.edu/maps/1722) and subsequently exported it to GeoTIFF.
I imported the GeoTIFF file into ArcGIS Desktop 10. I had 5 "bands," which I had to experiment with to get an accurate correspondence of earthquake zones. Moreover, the image showed up in B/W: when I exported the map to KML and overlayed on Google Maps, it showed up in color.
I have attached the ArcMap document. I would appreciate your assistance in explaining why there are bands and why the image shows up in B/W in ArcMap. I would like color, similar to the source map, in ArcMap.
Kind regards,
Julie
